This piece is part of a series I’ve been doing in which I place my animal subjects against a cloud background - as if they were standing on a hilltop, or watching a storm move in. This divorces my subject from a specific sense of place, and allows me to explore a more timeless feeling in the work. I’ve had bison on the brain lately, and as I worked on this meditative piece the title seemed appropriate for the enduring nature of the species.
